My name is Ms. Shawni Parafiniuk and I was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I was raised and schooled in Phoenix, Arizona. I have four brothers, three sisters, one niece, and 4 nephews. Coming from such a large family, I am used to being around kids and enjoy time spent in the classroom with them.
I have lived in Flagstaff, Arizona for nine years now and I love being among the trees. In 2007, I successfully completed my student teaching here at FALA with art teacher and guru, Janeece Henes. I graduated from Northern Arizona University in 2007 with a B.S. In Art Education. This will be my second year teaching at FALA.
I enjoy traveling. I have been to the East Coast and West Coast, and many places in between. I have also visited foreign countries. I look forward to more travel adventures in the future. On my time off I love hiking, camping, biking, baking, cooking, painting, and playing outdoor sports.
Creativity is my passion, and I look forward to sharing this with my students at FALA. I plan on using a myriad of techniques in my classroom in order to help guide my lessons. I will be teaching Yearbook to 7th-12th graders, Art Basics to 7th and 8th graders, as well as an Advisory class to a small group of 11th graders. I am looking forward to another amazing year at FALA!
